Rockers and Floors |
Still here? Well I must be doing somthing right if ya'll are sticking around thru this mess ;-). The next step in the whole rockers rebuild is to remove the rocker reinforcement piece that runs along the bottom of the outer rocker up to the wheelhouse. I have been DREADING removing this piece, and now it is time to pay the piper. There were 83 spot welds that had to be cut out and did I mention that I did it on my back too?? |
It took me the better part of two days, lots of swearing and even a couple of thown tools just for good measure. It sucked. I still have the passenger side to look forward to yet!! Yea!! |
This is what I found lurking under that piece. I should have guessed. Rust and holes. It looks like I'll have need of that new outer rocker that I purchased after all. The front 12" of the outer rocker will have to be replaced, the remainder of the rocker appears to be in good shape, at least up to the dogled, which I aready know is junk. |
11/05/06 - I've since rethought my thinking <wink> and have decided although splicing in the section from above would be easier, it would not be correct. So I've opted to remove the entire rocker panel and replace the whole works as one piece. Good thing too cuz there was a lot of rust damage back there that I couldn't have fixed otherwise... |
