Rockers and Floors
Hey Hey Hey - Yep, still at it. As much as I like summer, I think I hate is
just as much. Since my last update, I've welded in the inner rocker and all
the cowl pieces I primed on the previous page. I also discovered I made a
semi-major mistake (two of them actually), but more on that later. I've
now dived into the drivers side rockers/cowl area. WHAT A FREAKING
MESS!!! This side needs considerably more work. The above pics are what
I'm fixing. The bottom pics are the new pieces from the donor car
temporarily patched in. Even my patch pieces need patches... Sigh.
10/29/06, the battle with the car continues. This weekend, my
goal was to finish welding in the components for the drivers side
cowl. I know, its been over a month since my last post.... What
have I been doing you ask? Well if you look at the picture on the
left above, it looks like a pretty usable piece. It was until I sand
blasted it and all the rust holes showed up. So since the above pics
were posted, I made a sheet metal brake so I could fab up that
piece from scratch. The brake is 48" long and made with 1/4" angle
and other nicknacks
So, with a sheet metal brake made, I went about designing a
sheet metal layout in CAD for my piece and bent it up. It took a
couple of tries and some custom fitting to still get it to work.

Now, a little bit of SPI epoxy primer, some welding and a little
grinding, the drivers side cowl is now complete (or so I thought..)
